What this blog is about!

Now that we know most of our department store cosmetics and household products are full of harmful, cancer-causing and hormone-interrupting chemicals, what can we do about it? This blog is to help us all share ideas on what products we have tried, what products are relatively safe, what is affordable to the general public and what we have found to REALLY WORK! We are in this together!

It probably makes the most sense for you to start with the first post, and work your way up to the current one! We welcome your comments!

More skincare and makeup

Here is another great site/shop for makeup. If you live near Sandy, this is a great little shop and the owner, Joy, is VERY helpful. She will make you small samples of any of her products so you can try them at home first and see how they work for you...Also, you can order anything online. www.naturaljoybeauty.com.

Things I really like so far: Real Purity Mascara, Wild Willow lip balm, mineral eye shadows, Lauren Brooke concealer.

Things I have tried and wasn't crazy about: Lip-liners and eye-liners (these are tricky to find healthy replacements that stay on long and go on smooth), foundation with enough coverage (I tried both of the ones they offer and if you just need light coverage, they are great).

What I LOVE is that Joy is SUPER helpful, knowledgable and willing to make you samples so you don't buy a whole bottle of something, hate it and end up stuck with it.

Check it out!

  1. I'm loving a mineral blush from Natural Joy Beauty, also. It is called Earth's Beauty -- I got "earthy pink." It actually stays on, and you don't have to use a ton of it -- a little goes a long way. I also really like the holistic formula mascara - I have tried both the brown and the black. For a thicker mascara look, put on one coat of it -- do something else for a few minutes, then put on a second coat. Took me awhile to figure out this trick. At first I thought it wasn't thick enough, but discovered I was rubbing off the first coat by trying to put a second one on right away. Wait between coats!
